How Does Reverse Osmosis Work?

There is a five stage process in a reverse osmosis water filtration system.

• Sediment Pre-Filter & Carbon Block – This stage reduces suspended and particulate matter down to 5 microns from incoming tap water and reduces chlorine/chloramines taste and odor before passing through the RO membrane.
• Reverse Osmosis Membrane – This semi-permeable membrane targets contaminants and reduces the remaining suspended solids and dissolved solids from the water. The separated impurities are washed down the drain.
• Prolonged Contact Filter – This filter is designed to further reduce aesthetic chlorine from the water.
• Carbon Block – One final filtration pass to reduce any additional objectionable taste and odors.
